The search and rescue (SAR) operations for remaing 10 Indian sailors today entered into fifth days off Philippines coast, with no success. The Hong-Kong registered ship MV Emerald Star had sank on Friday in which 26 Indians were onboard. However, 16 sailors were rescued on the first day and hunt for remaining 10 are still on.

Late Sunday night, the Indian Navy had sent a Boeing P-8I Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance Anti-Submarine warfare aircraft to assist in the search. “Indian Navy aircraft P81 undertook search and rescue sortie from 1400-2000 hours on October 16. The aircraft covered an area 24000 square nautical miles around last known position of MV Emerald Ship. The crew sighted a 10-meter long inverted lifeboat.

The same was relayed to Japanese Coast Guard (JCG) Okinawa to investigate,” said the Indian Navy. JCG Ship reported that it has already encountered and searched the boat and didn’t find any survivors or bodies. The Indian Navy said no other debris or survivors were sighted during the operations. The search operation is still continue since the morning at 10am.
