Black Monday: 5 of family killed in Doda, 29 injured in Rajouri, Samba road mishaps

JAMMU: What could be termed as black Monday, five members of a family died in a tragic road mishap today while 29 others sustained injuries in two separate accidents in Rajouri and Samba districts. In a tragic accident, Five members of family including three teenagers died in a road mishap when a car they were travelling in plunged into a gorge in Doda district.
"A family comprising five members were travelling in a newly purchased car bearing temporary registration number met with an accident this evening when on its way from Doda to Jatheli village and plunged into a deep gorge at Babore area on Gath road of Doda district," police said.
After receiving information, locals and police reached the spot and shifted all the injured passengers to District Hospital Doda where doctors declared two of them as brought dead, they said.
Later, other three also succumbed to their injuries during the treatment, they added.
Preliminary reports suggest that the driver perhaps lost control of the car while negotiating a sharp curve as the road at the place of accident was very narrow, said DySP Doda Nazir Ahmed Ganai.
"All the 5 family members were declared dead by the doctors at Doda hospital," he added.
The deceased were identified as Bashir Ahmad Shah (45) son of Feroz Din Shah, his wife Fatima Begum (35) and children Zia Bashir (14), Shaika Bano (17) and Nelofar (19), all residents of Shiva Asthan Mohalla, Doda.
"The family had purchased new car on October 13 which met with an accident," they said.
Meanwhile twenty two persons, most of them students got injured when a minibus met with accident in Dhanore village on road from Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBDU) to Rajouri town in border district.
"Accident took place at about 04:40 when a minibus (JK14 7636) on its way to Rajouri town from university turned turtle resulting injuries to twenty two passengers. The injured were shifted to District Hospital (DH) Rajouri .
Yet in another road mishap seven passengers got injured as bus they were travelling in met with an accident and turned turtle near Birpur in Samba district.
"A bus (JK02BP-5727) on way from Sandi, Purmandal to Jammu, this morning turned turtle near Birpur in which seven passengers suffered injuries," police here said.
The injured were rushed to the Jammu hospital.
The injured were identified as Nusrat Fatima (16), Shamima (38), Sonu (12), Mohammad Asif (18), Vicky Kumar (24), Mohammad Ashfaq (25) and Sofia Akhtar (14).
Concerned police have registered cases in connection and started further investigations
