Jammu at the receiving end, amount in crores has been allocated for Kashmir and few lakhs in Jammu: Tarun

Jammu 15,Oct : According to recent RTI information received regarding allotment of funds under Khelo India Scheme , Amount in crores has been allocated for various Sports activities in Kashmir and few lakhs for Jammu.
According to information received under RTI act , JK SPORTS COUNCIL has provided around 1.60 crore to various sports associations in Kashmir valley and Only 14 lakhs in Jammu region under Khelo India Scheme during 2016-17. Today a press conference was done by the members of DISTRICT TABLE TENNIS ASSOCIATION UDHAMPUR here at Udhampur in which Kumar Tarun (Sr. Vice President of District Table Tennis Association Udhampur) alleged that , J&K sports council has disrespected the sentiments of Sportspersons of Jammu region.
He said that, It is the another instance of discrimination against the Jammu region and they have already done it many times previously. JK Sports council is totally failed to full fill the genuine demands and providing the platform to the players of Jammu region which raise serious allegations over their poor work policy, he added. He stated that , there are various under construction sports projects in Jammu region which require early notice but they have turned blind over the issues and also Sports council is completely responsible for ruining the dreams of talented players to display their talent at High Level.
Tarun expressed anguish over the issue that , After 5 yrs of foundation stone, Udhampur Indoor complex has yet to be completed which speakes volumes with regard to the poor functioning of Secretary J&K Sports Council Waheed -ur rehman parra as well as whole J&K sports council”
This all is happening due to the dirty politics in sports arena and it should be eliminated soon, he added“Despite remaining in the ministry local representative from Udhampur Pawan Gupta failed to take necessary steps for early completion of the complex. Also in last year he had done press conference regarding the same and mentioned that Rs40 lakh has been sanctioned for the flooring of the hall but nothing has been done yet in this concern which is big shame of failure and he has to stick with his words. He blamed that MLA is totally responsible for ruining the future of sportsperson of the city which is completely unacceptable.
Further he said that, Jammu is full of talented sportspersons but unfortunately Jammu always become victim of favouritsm due to the leadership crisis in the same and they feel cheated. He warned that, Talented players of Jammu region and Udhampur will never tolerate this kind of Discrimination at any cost and will agitate strongly against this. In the end , he appealed to the hon’ble Chief Minister of the State who is also the President Of the J&K Sports Council Mehbooba Mufti to intervene the matter soon and do the justice. Further, Ankit sharma ( Joint secretary) also warned for massive protest if authorities fail for the completion of the complex. Sunny sharma (executive member) and Balvinder singh were also present during the press conference.
