Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi today expressed his gratitude to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for 'recognising' his party's 'great vision and legacy'. In a tweet, Mr Gandhi said, 'Sushma ji, thank you for finally recognising Congress governments' great vision and legacy of setting up IITs and IIMs.' Congress communication department head Randeep Surjewala also acknowledged the External Minister 'for stating hard facts about India and Pakistan at UN.'

The Congress Spokesperson said Ms Swaraj's gave a befitting answer to 'those who ask what happened in the last 70 years. In a tweet, he said, 'Befitting reply to those who ask what happened in last 70 years. Sushma Swaraj mirrored the yeoman's progress made by India under Congress rule, making 'inclusive growth and progress' as India's mantra. 'Time to move words into action as Pak still receives $743 million annual US aid, collaborates with China on CPEC & buys arms from Russia,' the senior Congress leader added. On Saturday, Ms Swaraj had flayed Pakistan for concentrating only on terrorism in last many years, while India focused on enhancing knowledge, leading to great doctors and engineers.

"We established scientific and technical institutions, which are the pride of the world. But what has Pakistan offered to the world and indeed to its own people apart from terrorism? We produced scholars, doctors, engineers. What have you produced? You have produced terrorists. Doctors save people from death; terrorists send them to death," she charged. Mr Gandhi's tweet referred to these institutes- IITs and IIMs, which were established during various Congress governments at the Centre and in the states.
