Kashmir beat Jammu in opening ties of U-17, U-19 Inter-Division Cricket Tournament

Srinagar: Kashmir division beat Jammu division in both Under-17 and 19 inaugural matches of Inter-Division Cricket Tournament played at at HSS Bijbehara Ground on Thursday.
In the Under-17 event, Kashmir division beat Jammu division by 31 runs.

In the U-19 competition, Jammu Division won the toss and decided to bat first. Jammu were shot out for 89 and failed to play fill quota of overs. In reply, Kashmir chased down the target in 13.5 overs losing only three wickets.

Earlier, District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik inaugurated the tournament.

Speaking on the occasion, District Development Commissioner said that the purpose of organizing such events is to nourish the sports talent and development of team spirit among the youth. He said that the youth of the state have an immense potential to excel in this field.

The DDC lauded the efforts of the District Youth Services and SportsDepartment for holding such events in the district and assured every possible help for the promotion of sports at the grass root level.

Pertinent to mention that the cricket tournament is played at the inter-division level as the players in the teams have got selected after playing at district and division level.

The other officers present on the occasion were SDM Bijbehara, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Kashmir, Principal GHSS Bijbehara, District Youth Services & Sports Officer Anantnag, Principal DIET Anantnag, Zonal Physical Education Officers, Physical Education Lecturers, and Masters.
