Agitating Tamil Nadu farmers today lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that he had not paid heed to their demands and they were feeling cheated. "At the time of Lok Sabha election, Mr Modi promised if he becomes Prime Minister, then he will do everything for the nation. We are asking to interlink all the rivers, give fresh loan for the farmers, write off all the old loans and give individual insurance, pension for the farmers aged above 60 years but he is not paying heed to our demands.

Mr Narendra Modi-led Centre has only cheated us," one of the protesting farmer, R Sellapdrumal Musri Trichy told UNI here at Jantar Mantar. Mr Trichy said, "We are urging the Centre to protect farmers from committing suicides. We are embarrassed that we have voted for the BJP. People are supporting us but the BJP led Government is against us. Modi ji, we still have hope that you will look after us or we will teach your party (BJP) a lesson in the coming election." "No pro-farmer policies have been taken by this government in past three years but instead it is helping the corporate people.

We don't even have clothes to wear, we will wait for one or two days and then we will strip and go on the street. What is the reason that the Government is refusing our demand ? " he asserted. "Some politicians came here and assured us that they will save us but actually they are saving themselves by playing politics over the issue. No one is interested to help the poor farmers. We are ready to die in Delhi, we will not get into Chennai till our demands are met," the farmer said.

Attacking Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami , he said,"TN Government has passed a Bill in the Assembly to increase their (MLAs') salaries, it shows that Mr Palaniswami is not bothered about the labourers, farmers and other people of the state." The farmers have returned to the national capital last week to continue their protest. On the first leg of their protest of more than a month, to highlight their woes, the ryots had even attempted to drink urine. They had also held 'nude' and 'saree' protest.
