er Action Team (BAT) attacked Indian soldiers on Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector in which two Indian army jawans attained martyrdom.
However, Indian army also reacted strongly and killed two Pakistani intruders on the spot at LoC in Poonch at Khadi Karmari area, in the third BAT operation on Indian army by Pakistani regular's in last three months. Army has recovered the body of one slain intruder.
Though Defence Spokesperson is yet to confirm the details of incident, the Army sources identified the martyred soldiers as 35-years old Naik Jadhav Sandip Sarjerao of Aurangabad in Maharashtra and 25-years-old Sepoy Mane Savan Balku of Kolhapur in Maharashtra. One army jawan identified as Sepoy Sachin Aarvade also sustained bullet injuries in cross firing.
Official sources informed that two Indian army jawans attained martyrdom, when Pakistan's BAT squad comprising of Pak Commandoes and terrorists attacked an army patrol party after entering 600 meters inside Indian territory along LoC in Khadi Karmari area of Poonch sector and district. Though Indian army also reacted and killed an Pak intruder on the spot.
It is worth mentioning that it was the third BAT operation at LoC in past three months. Earlier, two Indian soldiers including a BSF jawan beheaded in bat attack along LoC on May 1, 2017. Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh and Head Constable Prem Sagar of BSF killed in BAT attack in KG sector.
In November 2016, Pakistan army's BAT had attacked a patrol party of army in Machil sector in Kashmir killing three soldiers and mutilating body of one of them. Pakistan also violated ceasefire at LoC in the afternoon at Chakkan-Da-Bagh area which is cross LoC trade point between Poonch (India) and Ravalakote (PoK). The Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Tariq Zargar however confirmed that there is no any casualty or injury to any civilian in today's Pak firing.
Meanwhile, BSF officials and Pakistani Rangers shook the hands and shared some lighter moments during historical annual affair of Chamliyal Mela at Ramgarh sector at Indo-Pak International Border in Samba district of Jammu.
Other than hand, as a good gesture today Pak Rangers handed over a Constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police Sohan Lal son of Gharu Ram of Nai Basti area of RS Pura area of Jammu district at Wagha Border in Punjab, who inadvertantly crossed over to Pakistan in May 2014.
The BSF DIG (G) Dharmendra Pareek, while infornming about the return of 39-years-old Sohan Lal finally back to his country, said, "It becomes possible with the persistent efforts by Frontier BSF JAMMU with Pak Rangers."
Four BSF guards had been suspended for negligence after it turned out that the constable, while working on his field along the International Border in RS Pura district, crossed over into Pakistan, three years back.
His family - which had stated he was mentally disturbed - which was looking for him figured he had crossed over when they heard news that Punjab Rangers had caught him in the border area of Kujial Sialkot in May 2014.
Over last three years, Sohan Lal's family tracked the ups and downs in relations between the two countries; their hopes brightened when Prime Ministers of the two countries met or shook hands, but later when the relations among Indo-Pak gone bad after Uri attack, followed by Indian army's surgical strikes.
After that when another Indian national, Kulbhushan Jadhav, had been sentenced to death by a military court, Sohan Lal's father Gharu Choudhary told local media persons that their hopes had comes to an end.
But today it was a big relief for the Choudhary family that Sohan Lal has been handed over to BSF by Pakistani Rangers. His 12-year-old daughter Anjali Choudhary had written number of letters to government from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh to the state Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to get her father back from Pakistan.
