DDC Shopian reviews implementation of developmental schemes

SHOPIAN, JUNE 21: The District Development Commissioner Shopian, Mohammad Aijaz, today convened a meeting to review the implementation of various schemes under Rural Development, IWMP, NRLM, YSS and Sericulture Departments.
Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Development, Executive Engineer REW, BDOs besides District Officers of Sericulture, Youth Services & Sports and NRLM were present in the meeting.
The meeting was told that under MGNREGA for 1097 works were executed in last fiscal by incurring an expenditure of Rs.13.72 crore which also generated 4.46 lakh mandays.
Further, during the current financial year 25462 job cards have been provided to the rural population and 13830 mandays were generated so far, the meeting was told.
Progress of works being executed under CDF and MPLAD funds besides implementation of APNA Panchayat and Convergence Plan was also discussed threadbare in the meeting.
The DDC was briefed about achievements under NRLM and it was said that 277 Self Help Groups in 21 villages have been constituted in the district for ensuring sustainable livelihood to the BPL women.
On the occasion, the DDC stressed upon concerned officers to execute the ongoing works within stipulated timeframe and create durable and tangible assets of public utility for sustainable development. The officers were asked to work with added zeal and dedication and in close coordination for the development of the district.
He exhorted the officers of RDD to take up works which are unique in nature in due consultation with the public and also stressed for taking the maximum number of works under convergence mode with various line departments.
The DDC also called for expediting work on construction of playfields approved under district and State sector to provide a boost to the sports activities in the district.
