Judge, wife take each other to Police Station

JAMMU: The Jammu Police are investigating a case of assault on life of a serving judicial officer who has been accused by his wife of harassment and maltreatment.
Over the last weekend, a serving judicial officer lodged a complaint at the Janipur Police Station saying that he was attacked by some goons at behest of his wife. A day later, a woman, who identified herself as wife of the same person also lodged complaint at the Janipur Police Station accusing her husband of harassment and domestic violence.
The Judge is initially reported to have complained to the Police that his wife went missing from home. However, later on, the Judge said in the complaint, that she returned accompanied by some goons and they physically attacked him. "Had I not been protected by my official security persons, the goons would have killed me", the Judge said. He said that the local Police also rushed in to save the situation.
He alleged that the motive behind 'the whole drama' is property and the dispute has been going on for a long while. "I am a cancer patient and my wife want to see me dead so as to be able to take over my property", said the Judge.
The judicial officer currently somewhere in Central Kashmir, admitted to The News Now that he has strained relations with his wife for several years and an amicable settlement was also sought. "We have lived separately for seven years and filed for divorce also but later on the relationship was amicably settled and we started living together since January this year", the judicial officer said.
However, Nitu Bala, the women who identified herself as wife of the Judge, has told the Police, in her complaint, that she was physically harassed by her husband to the extent that she has been left injured. She has also leveled allegation of social misconduct against the Judge. The Police have taken cognizance of the matter and have got Nitu Bala medically examined for physical injuries. "A medical report is still awaited", said a Police official at the Janipur Police Station.
On Sunday, Nitu Bala, along with some of her relatives, staged a protest outside and their residence (her and judge's) in Janipur area in full public view in which slogans were raised against the Judge. Bala said she was pregnant of five months but she has been thrown out of the house by her husband. The husband, judicial officer, has denied the allegations.
