Authorities' decision will flourish corruption, nepotism : Farooq Tantray

Srinagar, May 22 : The decision of authorities to avail rooms of District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIET) Bemina to persons with dubious past has evoked condemnation from Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar e Taleem Teachers Forum (JKReTTF) - the largest teachers representative organization of the state.
As per a statement, JKReTTF Chairman Farooq Ahmad Tantray has condemned the government decision to allot government accommodation at DIET Srinagar to a lobby that has always indulged in favouritism, corruption and nepotism. These people who are masquerading as trade union leaders have dented the image of nation builders by their dubious activities in the past and that is why they had to face the wrath of former head of the School Education. The rooms were freed by former DSEK after widespread complaints of running a mafia industry in department. The action of former DSEK was hailed by academic fraternity and civil society.
Mr Tantray said the decision to allot DiET rooms again to this lobby is unfortunate and it will have far reaching repercussions for department as these elements were desperate to reinvent their agenda to make the Directorate and other offices as hub for their murky dealings and to scuttle the innovative programmes that were introduced in last couple of years.
The JKReTTF Chairman questioned the decision of allotment of accommodation and blamed the authorities for adopting double standards vis a vis ReT teaching community. He said that JKReTTF is representing sixty five thousand teachers and since being the largest trade union body in the state, had approached the authorities for the same and were hopeful the request will be considered. But, today's decision has only added our fears of step motherly treatment with ReT teachers, Mr Tantray alleged.
Mr Tantray said that JKReTTF convenes meetings and teachers conferences at regular times and for that purpose the department was supposed to avail us accommodation. He warned of an agitation if authorities will not end this discrimination with ReT community. He appealed Minister of Education Syed Altaf Bukhari to address this issue immediately.
