SMVDU, Research Scholargot Prize in National Conference in Dehradun

Jammu, Mar 28: Savita Sharma,Research Scholar, Department of Biotechnology, SMVDUniversity, Katrawas awardedthe Third Prize in Poster Presentationduring the National conference cum workshop on “Biology, Culture, Conservation, Commercialization & Sustainable utilization of Medicinally &Floriculturally Important orchids” held at Graphic Era University, Dehradun organized jointly by The Orchid Society of India (TOSI), Chandigarh. The award was conferred to her by PadamshreeProf. (Redt.) Purohit, Punjab University, Chandigarh for the research work which was focused on medicinally important terrestrial Orchids Epipactishelleborine&Spiranthessinensis reported from forest areas of Patnitop, J&K. The work was carried out under the able guidance of Dr. Sharada M. Potukuchi (Assoc. Prof. DoBT, SMVDU), Dr. Shaveta Chauhan (Asstt. Prof. Dept. of Botany, HMV, Jalandhar) & Dr. Sanjay Sharma (Asstt. Prof. Dept. of Biotechnology, DAV college, Jalandhar).The presentation was possible due to the liberal funding sponsored by University. Four M. Sc. (Biotechnology) students, Ms. Rajni Sharma, Ms. FidrahBatool, Ms. Kirti Sharma and Ms. AnamikaKhajuria also attended the Conference and greatly benefitted from the proceedings.
