New Delhi, Feb 17: BJP today came out in strong defence of Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, who is under criticism from the Opposition, specially the Congress for making a "strong" statement regarding Kashmiri youth over support for terrorists.

The remarks made by General Rawat was a 'concern for the youth of Kashmir and not a warning' said Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh who was today fielded by the party to take on the criticism of the Army Chief.
Dr Singh said, 'We earnestly appeal to all political sections and the Congress party not to indulge in any kind of politicking at the cost of the morale of the security forces,' Dr Singh said.

Addressing a news conference here, the Dr Singh, who is an MP from Jammu, said, 'The Army is more concerned about the safety of people of the valley and hence General Rawat has made an earnest appeal to the youth that they should not come towards the line of firing but the Congress had interpreted as if the Army is after the youth of the valley.

"This is very unfortunate and a matter of concern for the entire country that Congress is trying to play petty politics with the Army to gain political mileage in the Assembly polls," Dr Singh said.
