Greater Kailash Murder Case: Police launches campaign against land grabbers in Jmu, lists being prepared

Jammu: In the backdrop of the Greater Kailash murder incident, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched a campaign against gangs involved in land grabbing in the Jammu region and have asked the Station House Officers (SHOs) to prepare the list of such people in their jurisdictions and forward the same to the higher ups for further necessary action.
"We have asked the district Senior Superintendents of Police (SSsP) to provide district wise list of the professional land grabbers. We will also take action against those who provide support or protection to such persons or gangs - be policemen or anybody else," said a senior police officer wishing not to be quoted.
Official sources said that the SSsP have further directed the SHOs to prepare the list of the land grabbers.
Earlier, Jammu & Kashmir Police in Jammu district has taken initiative to resolve matters of disputed properties.
As a part of the initiative Disputed Property Registers are being maintained in every Police Station. In Disputed Property Register all sorts of details regarding property dispute shall be entered so that it can serve as a Data bank to provide relevant information which will help to resolve the matters with regard to Property dispute in a prompt manners. Besides this, FIRs where required shall be registered in concerned Police Stations regarding matters of disputed properties and police shall act strictly on the matter for necessary action to resolve the matter. A total of 211 disputed properties have been identified by district Police Jammu so far & further data updation is going on.
Pertinently, on April 30 evening, a group of six men attacked an NRI based in Newzealand, Avatar Singh and his family in their plot in Greater Kailash and which resulted in the murder of Avatar in GMC, Jammu, whose family has claimed that they purchased the property in 2004 from land dealers.
After the incident, six accused were nabbed by Jammu police yesterday for Avatar Singh killing and they were identified as Parshottam Singh, his son Suraj Singh residents of Bari Brahmana, Vikas Singh of Greater Kailash, Sandeep Charak of Sarore, Rajat Jandiyal son of Gola Shah. While one of the key accused in this killing case Ravinder Kumar alias Gola Shah of Greater Kailash, the land grabber, has been booked under PSA by the police.
