Matador conductor beats e-bus driver, FIR lodged

Jammu: Protesting transporters, peeved over the operation of e-buses on and along busy routes in Jammu outskirts, Thursday evening announced to call off their strike.
Decision was taken after, as per the transporters, the administration following two rounds of meetings “conceded almost all their demands.” “Today, we had two rounds of meetings – first meeting with the CEO Jammu Smart City Limited Rahul Yadav and second one was presided over by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu. As almost all our demands were conceded by the administration, we decided to call off our strike as of now,” All J&K Transport Welfare Association president Vijay Singh Chibs said .
When asked if the administration agreed not to operate e-buses on those routes which was agitating transporters’ main demand, Chib said, “Yesterday, they had operated e-buses on and along R S Pura and Akhnoor routes but today given our protest, they withdrew those buses from those routes. Withdrawal has been made till discussions with us, as to on which route in city and outskirts, they can operate e-buses, are finalised. With regard to city routes, tomorrow again our meeting is scheduled with the RTO, ARTO, JSCL CEO and other concerned officials. We’re very hopeful that all our concerns will be addressed.”
He stated that during day-long protests, the transporters, however, did not operate buses.
Given their protest, the commuters suffered for the straight second day and traversed long distances on foot.
