Oppn apart, rank and file within UT’s BJP unit too disappointed….!

Jammu: No mention of Assembly polls in J&K in the recently announced schedule of LS polls has not only faced backlash of opposition parties in UT, it has disappointed party leaders and cadres within BJP intensely who were awaiting this eagerly for accomplishing their own ‘goals’.
Even though ECI has indicated government intends to hold Assembly elections in J&K anytime this year, uncertainty over time looms large as it has not come forth with any solid reason for deferment except repeating same old security scenario narrative. This obviously gave opposition parties take on government with aggressive statements, the local unit of ruling BJP is also in sulk.
Sources within the party said when party high command came out with list for two seats of Jammu, it came contrary to expectations of many a senior leaders in line who were lobbying hard for pushing their names for mandate. The repeat of candidates for third time is a decision for whatever reasons and no one can challenge it but those who were strong contenders, Assembly polls is the hope for meeting their aspirations.
With pressure from across the political circles of UT as also in keeping up its own commitment of holding Assembly polls on the floor of Parliament by Union government, there was a strong yearning within BJP, perhaps more than any other party that the schedule could be announced, no matter for later half of the year.
Non committal approach of the government has however thwarted the planning and political goals of many a leaders in the party, sources said adding that they mostly include those who have already had an innings in the past in Assembly and even on ministerial posts. They are disheartened to the core, said sources, so much so that they have now stopped coming to office and even their routine political activities. Few senior leaders who were looking up seriously for their name pushed as candidates had already started small time activities to brace up their supporters and cadres for ‘big event’, sources said confirming they had embarked upon meetings and gatherings at many places.
However, all this has stopped now and so has the fervor of daily visit to party headquarter completely faded. The office which used to be seen abuzz with visit of senior leaders until announcement of candidates first for LS seats, followed by EC announcement of schedule the other day, looks deserted once again.
As for any activities, none for the time being only except issuance of press notes, sources added. With disappointment writ large on their faces, the leaders and cadres look far from excited to kick off campaign for their candidates for LS polls.
