Jammu: Reacting to the Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti’s doubts over authenticity of Rambagh encounter, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh on Thursday said that killers suddenly turned innocents for some people and such “nonsense” is unjustified.
“People in the civil society who somehow understand the reality but, try to say something beyond reality and there are many people, who are trying to create suppression over killings of terrorists and unfortunately there are people, who have started looking at these killers as innocents,” Singh replied to a query on Mehbooba Mufti raising doubts over Wednesday’s Rambagh encounter in Srinagar.
He was addressing a presser along with ADGP Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh and SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli on the seizure of 52 kgs heroin worth Rs 100 crores from Jhajjar Kotli area of Jammu.
“A self-styled commander of The Resistance Front (TRF), a terror outfit linked with the LeT among three terrorists wanted in the recent civilian killings in the city was gunned down by security forces,” said the police chief.
He said that SIT has also been constituted, stating, “I can say one thing with full authority that the police are investigating the matter in a professional manner.”
“Our officers know how to conduct operations. An investigation is in progress which is suggesting that there is a terrorist and terror network around him supporting him,” Singh also said on the Hyderpora encounter.
The Police Chief added that after the recent civilian killings, security forces have conducted successful operations in which over 20 terrorists involved in these killings, have been eliminated, adding, “only one terrorist, Basit is on the run and search is on to nab.”
“This is high time people accept reality without mixing it with their imagination,” he said adding that on Wednesday three terrorists were killed in the Rambagh encounter in which Srinagar resident Meehran was chief among them and all of them was responsible for many innocent civilian killings including School Principal Supinder Kaur and teacher Deepak Chan Mehra, SI Arshad, grenade attacks and firing incidents.
“We have very strong evidence available in this case and will be shared with all the concerned very soon. The ‘so called innocent civilians’ are taking the foreign terrorists out for a recce on motorbike, picking up targets and you call them innocents,” he expressed.
Meanwhile the Police Chief also ensured that security forces along with Jammu and Kashmir Police are trying to create a secure atmosphere, adding, “terrorists are adopting different mediums to stay connected across the border in Pakistan but our border grid is well established and strong enough to counter their nefarious designs.”
On Bhatadurian Operation, he said, “it is still in progress and we suspect presence of some terrorists in the area. I am sure our troops will be able to eliminate them.”
He also assured safety and action against those threatening journalists on social media.
