Sensex remains strong, gains 186 points

Mumbai, Oct 11: The BSE Sensex on Monday remained strong during the early trade session and advanced 186 points to 60,245.36 as record buying was witnessed across the board. The broader Nifty too, rose by 67 points to 17,962.95.

The Sensex registered the day's high of 60,265.83 and low of 59,811.42, respectively. The Nifty recorded its high at 17,981.10 and low at 17,839.10.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.35 per cent and Small Cap by 0.93 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 25 advanced while 5 declined.

The key gainers were Kotak Bank by 2.97 per cent to Rs 1,993.10; Maruti Suzuki by 2.89 per cent to Rs 7,640.05; NTPC by 2.69 per cent to Rs 144.90; Powergrid by 2.13 per cent to Rs 191.65 and M&M by 1.46 per cent to Rs 890.10.

The losers were TCS by 5.17 per cent to Rs 3,732; Tech Mahindra by 1.68 per cent to Rs 1,413.05; Bharti Airtel by 0.82 per cent to Rs 689.70; Infosys by 0.79 per cent to Rs 1,710 and HCL Technology by 0.68 per cent to Rs 1,313.10.
