2014 floods Rs 501 Crore distributed among 77, 569 beneficiaries under PMDP

Srinagar: Under the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) the Jammu and Kashmir government has distributed more than Rs 501 Crore among the 77, 569 flood victims whose houses were damaged during the September 2014 floods.
The Kashmir region suffered disastrous floods in September 2014, across many of its districts caused by torrential rainfall. The flood resulted in the destruction of property and public infrastructure causing damage to thousands of Crore rupees.
Whereas Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 07th Septemeber2015 under PMDP announced, a Reconstruction Plan for J&K involving an outlay of Rs. 80,068 Crore. The Reconstruction Plan essentially focused on five Pillars- Humanitarian Relief, Crisis Management, Social Infrastructure Development Projects and Economic Infrastructure.
Among the Humanitarian Relief, funds to the affected families of September 2014, floods in the form of enhanced ex-gratia relief for reconstruction of houses was announced.
As per the official figures released by the administration in Srinagar the amount of Rs “Five Hundred One Crore Sixty Five Lacs Fifty Thousand” stands distributed to the number of 77, 569 beneficiaries under PMDP for flood-affected victims of September 2014.
As per the official document more than Rs 521 Crore were to be distributed among 78, 671 beneficiaries under the PMDP, whose houses were fully, partially or severally damaged during the September 2104 floods. However, among the 78, 671 beneficiaries, over Rs 501 Crore funds have been released to over 77, 569 flood victims. Whereas, relief of over Rs 21 Crore meant for 1101.5 beneficiaries stands un-distributed
The document reveals that under the Pucca house category financial the assistance was provided to over 5526 beneficiaries (full house damaged), 20813 beneficiaries (severally damaged house) and 51025 beneficiaries (partially house damaged). Whereas under Kacha house financial assistance were provided to over 96 beneficiaries (fully house damaged), 54 beneficiaries (severally house damaged) and to 55 beneficiaries (partially damaged).
The documents accessed by TNN also reveal that over 44 beneficiaries whose Pucca houses were severally damage, 4 beneficiaries whose Kacha house were fully damaged and over 1053 beneficiaries whose Kacha houses were severally damaged are yet to receive funds under the PMDP.
