Property worth crores of rupees destroyed in south Kashmir fire

Anantnag, Apr 8: Property worth crores of rupees has been destroyed in a devastating fire in south Kashmir district of Kulgam, official sources said.

The fire broke out in a house at Damhal Hanjipora, Kulgam in the wee hours of Thursday. However, before the fire tenders could reach the spot, locals joined the fire extinguishing operation but fire spread to nearby house.

About six houses and other household property worth crores of rupees has been damaged in the fire. However, there was no report of any loss of life or injury in the incident.

Sources said the cause of fire was being ascertained adding police has registered a case and initiated investigation.

There were over half a dozen fire incidents in the Kashmir valley destroying houses, shops and other property besides claiming the lives of a woman and her minor son recently. Besides about a dozen persons were injured during fire fighting operation in the down town.
