Jammu: The Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is arriving to Jammu and Kashmir for the first time on February 26 after the completion of his term in the Rajya Sabha.
As per reports, there is also a preparation for a rally to welcome him strongly. He will participate in a public function in Jammu.
During the three days, Azad will attend the program of Guru Ravidas Sabha and Gandhi Global Family on 27 February in Jammu. Azad's picture is prominently in posters in Jammu about Guru Ravidas Jayanti. He will also inaugurate the hall of the Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust, which he had supported during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, on 28 February.
His visit to Jammu comes at a time when Congress state president GA Mir is camping in Jammu and is busy strengthening the party organization.
Azad's visit becomes even more important in the current political situation of the Congress in the state. At this time, Azad is being ignored in the politics of Congress in Delhi. He has not been given any important responsibility since the end of his term as Congress General Secretary. His term in Rajya Sabha has also been completed.
Azad holds an important place in Congress politics in Jammu and Kashmir. Before GA Mir, Saifuddin Soz and before him the command of the State Congress was in the hands of Pirzada Mohammad Sayeed. All these leaders are from Kashmir.
