G.D.Goenka organises ‘BOOK WEEK’

Jammu, Sep 23: We live in an age where there is an overflow of information, but reading is the best way to take advantage of it as it helps to enhance the vocabulary, spoken skills, confidence, knowledge, memory etc. Reading is important because it develops the mind, it inspires children to get newer and fresher perspectives on various aspects related to their surroundings and finally help them develop the language skills. In order to empower the students with these skills, Goenkans organised a ‘BOOK WEEK’ for the students of Class I & II from Sept. 19 to Sept. 23, 2016.

A “Book Nook” was set in all the Classes in the Class Library. Different story books, text books, G.K Books, dictionary etc were displayed in the Nook. The class teacher also motivated the students to a story in a day. “Word of the day”, “Quotation”, related to books were written in the almanac daily.

Different activities, like, making book mark, spellathon and identify the book by its cover were held. Teachers helped the students in using a dictionary and different worksheets were given in the class.

The Principal, Mr. Rajesh Rathore, lauded the efforts of the students and the teachers for ensuring a well informed, competent and enlightened citizenry to pass out from the portals of the institution.
