GMC Jammu to get 100 registrars, list shortly

Jammu: The central health team has suggested Jammu and Kashmir to conduct door to door survey in containment zones, to identify high risk patients of COVID-19.
The Government Medical College Jammu (GMC-J) will declare the list of 100 registrars, which will significantly overcome the shortage of staff.
“The central team observed that the administration is conducting enough Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) but the contact tracing is not convenient while reviewing COVID-19 situation in Samba, Ramban, Kishtwar, Kathua, Rajouri and Doda through video conference,” an official told The News Now.
“Involve ASHA workers and field Health staff to identify influenza like illness (ILI) in containment zones so that testing of all can be done. Conduct door to door survey for identifying high risk persons like pregnant women/ elderly persons and those with co-morbidity,” the team told these districts.
“Central team urged these districts to focus on influenza like Illness (ILI), Severe Acute Respiratory infection (SARI) cases, 100% house to house survey, contact tracing and increasing the number of testing especially with RAT,” he added.
The central team further asked these districts to focus on the Data analysis and stepping up the testing, contact tracing and surveillance of the areas from where more cases are detected so that chain can be broken.
A day before, central team held deliberations with GMC&H Jammu Principal Dr Nasib Chand Digra and senior faculty members for nearly two hours to know about difficulties faced by them in dealing with the pandemic.
“The central panel also enquired about spread of COVID-19 among doctors and shortage of doctors in the hospitals. Apart from this, the panel was satisfied with control measures adopted by the premier health institution,” he said.
Giving clarification to the central panel, GMC&H officials said that the COVID and non-COVID areas are mixed up in the hospital premises due which the infection cases were reported among doctors.
They further informed the panel that the recruitment of 100 registrars has almost completed and will be asked to join soon. “Apart from this, 125 nurses and 100 NOs will be recruited within a week,” the GMC informed the panel.
“In the meeting the panel was also informed by GMC&H officials that the 717 COVID-19 patients were admitted in the hospital so far. Out of which, 565 treated in isolation ward while 112 deaths were reported,” an official said.
The Central team comprises of Director NCDC, Dr S K Singh, Joint Director NCDC, Dr Kinnzin, Associate Prof Medicine (Pulmonologist) AIIMS Dr Vijay Handa and Dr Mahesh Waghmare, IDSP, New Delhi.
