NEW DELHI: With a single-day increase of almost 98 thousand cases, India's COVID-19 tally crossed 46-lakh mark on Friday, while the death toll crossed 77 thousand with over 1100 people succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours.
According to Union health ministry data updated on Friday morning, India's COVID-19 caseload sprinted past 45 lakh and the death toll climbed to 76,271 with a record 96,551 infections and 1,209 fatalities being reported in a day, while the recoveries crossed 35 lakh on Friday.
The total coronavirus cases mounted to 45,62,414, while the recoveries surged to 35,42,663, the data updated at 8 am showed.
However, by the evening, a tally of figures showed that India's COVID-19 count has reached 46,46,705, a spike of 97908 cases.
The tally compiled with information provided by respective states and union territories latest by 9:00 pm, showed India's death toll at 77373; and recoveries at 36,10,815, an increase of 1166 and 80606, respectively.
