India, South Korea to further promote defence ties between armed forces

New Delhi, Jul 10: Reviewing the ongoing bilateral defence ties initiatives, India and South Korea on Friday expressed commitment to further promote defence cooperation engagements between their Armed Forces.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had a telephonic interaction with his South Korean counterpart Jeong Kyeong-Doo and agreed to take forward the agreements in the field of defence industry and defence technology cooperation between both the countries.

The two defence ministers also had discussions on issues pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the defence ministry said in a statement.

Mr Singh informed his South Korean counterpart on India’s contribution to international efforts against COVID-19 and discussed areas of mutual cooperation in the global fight against the pandemic.

They also agreed to work together to deal with the complex challenges posed by this pandemic, it added.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the regional developments of shared security interests during the telephonic call.
