2 minors, 2 bakers among 33 positive in Valley, 35 recover

40 new cases, J&K’s Covid tally nears 1500

SRINAGAR: As many as forty more persons tested positive for Coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir, 33 of them from Kashmir, taking the number of infections in the union territory to 1489, even as 36 more patients were discharged from various hospitals, bringing up the recoveries to 720 against 749 active cases in the UT.

After a spate of deaths in recent days, Kashmir Valley didn’t report any casualty due to Covid-19 after six long days, even as more number of recoveries was registered against the number of fresh infections.

Two children and as many bakers were among the 33 fresh cases reported across the Valley on Friday, while as many as 35 patients returned to their homes after their recovery from the deadly disease.

At JVC, SKIMS Bemina, 378 samples were tested and 16 of them all from Shopian tested positive; 10 samples out of 2088 tested positive from SKIMS Soura, while 7 returned positive out of 756 samples tested at Chest Disease Hospital Microbiology Lab, Nodal Officer GMC Dr. Salim Khan told The News Now.

Among the 33 new Covid-19 cases, 18 are from Shopian, 3 each from Kupwara and Baramulla, 2 each from Anantnag, Pulwama, and Srinagar, and one each from Kulgam, Bandipora, and Budgam district.

In Shopian two minors, 8 males and as many females tested positive.

“The Shopian patients include a one-year-old boy, a seven-year-old girl, 7 males aged 65, 24, 30, 28, 25, 45, and 18 years; and 7 females aged, 19, 15, 65, 70, 17, 42 and 26 years—all residents of Chatawattan,” officials said.

The other two cases are of a 25-year-old woman from Palpora and a 45-year old male from Memadar, they added.

Two bakers, both men aged 30 and 55 years tested positive for Covid-19 in Pulwama while a 65-year-old female from Mainag and a 25-year-old female from Drarangan were the two cases from Anantnag.

The three patients from Kupwara who tested positive include a 30-year-old man from Handwara, a 42-year-old man from Lolab, and a 30-year-old man from Hyhama.

In Baramulla, a 30-year-old male from Wuhama Rafiabad besides a woman and a man—both aged 30 from Hardichillo Tangmarg tested positive while an 85-year-old man from Qazigund was the fresh case from Kulgam.

A 38-year-old woman, who was referred from LD hospital and now been shifted to JVC Bemina is the fresh case from Bandipora while a 23-year-old man from Sheikhpora in Budgam has also tested positive.

The two cases attributed to Srinagar include a 19-year-old year local boy and a 48-year-old woman pneumonia patient from Kargil, who has been admitted to SMHS hospital Srinagar.

Moreover, 35 people recovered after testing negative and were discharged from different hospitals in the Kashmir division. They included 20 from Anantnag, 5 from Budgam, 4 from Shopian, 2 each from Kulgam and Srinagar and one each from Kupwara and Bandipora.

In Kashmir region, there are now 1271 positive cases, out of which 650 have recovered and 603 are active, while 18 have died.

Adding the number from Jammu region, there are now a total of 1489 positive cases in the union territory out of which 749 are Active Positive, 720 have recovered and 20 have died.
A district-wise breakup in Valley reveals that Bandipora has 138 positive cases (including 01 cases reported today) with 08 Active Positive, 129 recovered (including 01 cases recovered today), 01 death; Srinagar has 176 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 71 Active Positive, 99 recovered (including 02 cases recovered today), 06 deaths; Anantnag district has 266 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today), with 153 Active Positive, 109 recovered (including 20 cases recovered today), 04 deaths; Baramulla has 132 positive cases (including 03 cases reported today) with 37 Active Positive, 91 recovered, 04 deaths; Shopian has 127 positive cases (including 18 cases reported today) with 25 Active Positive, 102 recovered (including 04 cases recovered today); Kupwara has 128 positive cases (including 03 cases reported today) with 79 Active Positive, 49 recovered (including 01 cases recovered today); Budgam has 63 positive cases (including 01 case reported today), with 26 Active Positive and 35 recovered cases (including 05 cases recovered today) and 02 deaths; Ganderbal has 27 positive cases with 12 Active cases and 15 recoveries; Kulgam has 193 positive cases (including 01 reported today), with 180 Active Positive and 12 recoveries (including 02 cases reported today) and 01 death and Pulwama reported 21 positive cases (including 02 cases reported today) with 12 active positive, 09 recovered.
