Amit Shah, LG laud high voter turnout

Srinagar: Hailing the high-voter-turnout in north Kashmir’s Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency on Monday, Union Home Minister, Amit Shah termed the development as a “momentous occasion for Kashmir.”
Taking to his official X handle, Shah said that the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency registered an approximately 20% higher coter turnout compared to the last Lok Sabha elections.
He said that the Modi government’s endeavours to ensure peace and development in Kashmir have strengthened people’s trust in democracy.
“It is a befitting reply to those who ask what has changed after the abrogation of Article 370,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha congratulated the people and all the stakeholders on the high voter turnout in Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency.
In a tweet, the Lt Governor said: “High voter turnout, over 58% in Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency, is very encouraging and shows the people's determination and unwavering faith in democracy. I congratulate and thank the people of Baramulla for joining the Maha Kumbh of our democracy in large numbers.
I appreciate the hard work of all the stakeholders to ensure free, fair, accessible, inclusive & peaceful conduct of voting. Happy to see young voters expressing and celebrating their unshakable faith in democratic values. Hope this positive trend will continue in the next phase”.
