Shocker!: Girl student offered lift, gang raped in moving car in Jammu; FIR lodged

Spur in crime related incidents, people raise concern

Jammu: Barely twenty-four hours of Greater Kailash murder case, another heinous crime related incident has been reported in Jammu city where a girl student was gang raped in a moving car after being offered lift.
The victim girl made hue and cry for help , but all went in vain. The accused released her after satisfying their lustful desire. The spur of crime related incidents have also put a question mark on the tall claims of Jammu and Kashmir Police as people started tweeting and raising concern for their safety in JKUT.
The victim girl student of Rehari in Jammu city had gone to Akalpur area near Talab Tillo to attend her friend’s function when intercepted by her acquaintance. He offered lift to her in his Baleno car and unknowingly his intention she accepted his offer. She realized that she was trapped after she saw another person in the car. They gang raped her in the car. The girl narrated the incident to her parents following which the aggrieved knocked on the door of the court. On the direction of the court police booked the accused person in Police Station Domana in a case vide FIR No.106/2024 u/s 376 IPC.
Quoting the content of the complaint, highly placed sources said, “ Domana police lodge FIR against the accused namely Rajat Kumar s/o Kewal Kumar r/o Jaswan and one unknown person on the basis of the complainant who has stated that on 07/04/2024, she was going to Akalpur to attend the function of her friend, when she reached at Akalpur road, the accused person along with his friend in a Baleno car offered her lift as he is already known to her .Therefore, she accepted the offer and sit in the car and then after moving some distance they started molesting her . She made hue and cry and ran out of the car. Thus as per the content of application and in compliance to Hon'ble court order, a case FIR no :-106/2024 U/S:-376 IPC has been registered at Police Station Domana and investigation is going on” .
Pertinently, on 28 April 2024, unidentified gunmen opened fire at a sweet shop in Miran Sahib area. A social media handle by the name of ‘Abbu Jatt’ claimed responsibility for the attack.Police later arrested both the accused persons.
On 24 March 2024, a man was hacked to death over an old rivalry. The incident happened at Dablehar village in Arnia of RS Pura where unidentified assailants attacked the aged man and took away his hands, following which he sustained fatal wounds. But when he was rushed to GMC Jammu in Bakshi Nagar, he was declared lifeless on arrival by the doctors.
On April 3,2024,a cop and a gangster were killed in a shootout in Jammu And Kashmir's Kathua district. The Probationary Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma, who suffered head injuries during the encounter, died during treatment.
On 29 April , a Village Defence Guard (VDG) member was killed in a gunfight with recently infiltrated terrorists in a remote village in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district. The search operation for the terrorist is still underway.
