Jammu: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to address a massive public rally in Kathua on April 10 to pitch for the Union Minister and party’s candidate from Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha Dr Jitendra Singh who is seeking a third term from the seat.
If the BJP sources are to be believed, the Ram Leela ground in the heart of Kathua town is likely to be the venue of the rally but the party leadership wants to shift the venue to some interior part of the constituency “to take maximum electoral benefit” out of the rally to be addressed by Yogi Adityanath who is one of the star campaigners of the BJP.
“The final decision on the venue is to be taken in a day or two as the local leadership and party workers are excited to host the Uttar Pradesh chief minister’s rally in their district,” a senior party leader said.
The Udhampur seat will go to polls on April 19. Congress has fielded two-time parliamentarian Choudhary Lal Singh from the seat and it is hopeful of giving a tough fight to the BJP on the seat.
The Saffron Party has proposed to hold rallies of its top leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in three Parliamentary constituencies of Jammu-Reasi, Udhampur-Doda and Anantnag-Poonch-Rajouri during the election campaign in J&K.
On the other hand, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have been named as star campaigners of the party among 27 others for Jammu and Kashmir in the current Lok Sabha elections.
Both the BJP and the Congress have already announced their candidate from the Jammu seat as well but the two parties were yet to name their nominees for the high-profile Anantnag-Poonch-Rajouri constituency which is going to witness a contest among heavyweights.
