Efforts in full swing for conjugaltie-up among NC, PDP, Cong

Mehbooba to contest Rajouri-Anantnag, Omar to go for Srinagar constituency

JAMMU: An engaged effort is in full swing among the opposition regional parties along with Congress for a conjugal tie up to impact BJP’s winning streak in Jammu and Kashmir in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls .
National Conference (NC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), sources says, is under hectic parleys to ensure resounding defeat to Bharatiya Janata Party and for the purpose all parties are likely to walk a mile ahead above their political affiliations and agendas to tie up a pre-poll marriage of convenience .
Under the persisting situation, while the valley based regional political parties along with Congress seem to have struck a clandestine deal, the open fight for Anantnag-Rajouri is the pivotal point of concern to stop Bharatiya Janata Party from making inroads in the valley.
Sources claim that all the three parties which are in regular consultation are not likely to spring up eye-catching surprise candidates for two Kashmir and one Anantnag-Rajouri seat within the first week of March.” Mehbooba's name has been sealed for Anantnag-Rajouri,” credible sources say.
“Talks are going on at different levels and we are hopeful of striking a balanced deal for the other seat sharing in the valley,” said one of the leaders from the National Conference.
“While NC has openly admitted its alliance with Congress in the Valley , PDP’s temperament too has softly inclined for a trio pact as all the three parties are the constituents of INDI Bloc and have pledged their loyalty to the Bloc for unanimous responsibility in political discourses,” said the sources.
Already reports have come pouring about two former Chief Ministers, Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah contesting from Rajouri-Anantnag and Srinagar constituencies’ respectively.This leaves all iotas of doubts at bay about NC-PDP, the two warring parties too having embraced the bonhomie.
Also the trends, past and present, strongly indicate PDP's influence over the South Kashmir Anantnag Lok Sabha seat significantly, surpassing that of NC. In the seat allocation discussions, Anantnag-Rajouri has been agreed to be allocated to Mehbooba Mufti. However, formal announcements regarding these arrangements are pending.
