DGP takes cognizance, issues advisory to senior police officers
Jammu: The late hours of sitting started affecting the mental health of the officials in Police Headquarters, PHQ, resulting in anxiety among them.
The matter was apprised to the DGP Jammu and Kashmir Police R.R Swain who got the matter enquired and came to know that senior officers were sitting late on their own even when they had no work.
Further, he got feedback that officials were doing it out of deference to their seniors who leave the office late.
Accordingly , DGP issued an advisory to the senior cops to be very careful and extremely selective in asking their juniors to sit late.
Sharing details, official sources said that the matter came to the knowledge of the DGP that many officers in PHQ had expressed anxiety regarding late sittings. He got the matter enquired and came to know that senior officers have been sitting late on their own even when they have no work.
Accordingly he issued an advisory to the senior officers which read as, “ No official who does not have work or has work which he/she thinks can be easily handled the next day or the day after because of the flexibility of the time limit or deadline shall sit late even for a minute.
This applies to all officers irrespective of ranks. All officers are sincerely advised to be very careful and extremely selective in asking their juniors to sit late. The roster of the personal staff has been carefully designed to give relief on rotational basis and roster basis. Other mechanisms may also be devised”.
