Janhvi Kapoor recently, while talking about her late mother, actor Sridevi got emotional. The Mili actor was visibly in tears when she was compared to Sridevi and asked if she ever stood in front of the mirror and recited her mother’s dialogues.

At the recently concluded AajTak Agenda, when the host asked her if, as an actor, has studied her mother’s work and stood in front of the mirror to recreate any of her iconic scenes, she said, “No, I don’t (recreate) mamma’s dialogue, because when she was alive she did not like watching her films. After she passed away it was even more difficult for me that, as an artist, I could objectively study her work. That’s something every actor does today, especially when it comes to mamma’s work, but I couldn’t.”

Janhvi will soon be making her south debut opposite Jr NTR in Koratala Siva’s NTR30. She opened up on she has now finally come in terms with her mother’s passing and has started watching her old films. She said, “However, now that I am debuting in South Indian films, I feel ready to objectively study her work. I have started watching her old films. I have never tried reciting any of her dialogues (before).”

While talking about her mother, Janhvi was visibly emotional. She was then asked if she is judged more because she comes from a family that is attached to Bollywood and because her mother was one of the greatest female stars of India, she said, “I think there are two sides to every coin. For them (non starkids, outsiders), even to get that first opportunity is so difficult. That was not my struggle. So, their journeys are different and their struggles are very different and they are very relatable as they don’t know where to go and whom to meet.”

“And I think those are the more relatable struggles. My journey and struggles are not relatable, so it’s ok. I am just happy that I got the opportunity to work. I don’t feel the added pressure anymore,” she concluded.

It’s been five years since Janhvi made her acting debut in 2018 with Dhadak. She was last seen in Bawaal along with Varun Dhawan and will next be seen in Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, Devara and Ulajh.
