Over 30 employees of Waqf Board suspended for dereliction of duties

SRINAGAR: Chairperson Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi today placed 31 Waqf employees under suspension for dereliction of duties at several shrines of Srinagar.
As per the reports, Mayor of Srinagar, Junaid Azim Mattu, Chairperson Waqf Board Dr Darakshan Andrabi and Commissioner SMC Athar Aamir Khan conducted a joint tour of Shahri e Khas and conduct visits to various shrines and religious places.
The dignitaries paid a visit to major shrines like Dargah Hazratbal, Jenab Sahib Soura, Naqashband Sahab (R.A) Khanyar.
However, during the visit several employees were found unauthorisedly absent when the chairperson carried out the surprise inspection.
A senior official at Jammu and Kashmir while confirming the details said most of the employees were absent. While strict restrictions were issued that every employee of Waqf Board should perform their duties professionally.
On Saturday, Chairperson Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board paid a surprise visit to shrines and more than 30 employees were found unauthorisedly absent, he said.
Adding that he said, however, majority of the employees were suspended for their failure to maintain cleanliness at the shrines, mosques & in associated Sanitary Complexes/Ablution points.
The action was taken after Dr Darakhshan visited the shrines of Makhdoom Sahab, Aasari Shareef Hazratbal, &Naqshband Sahib Srinagar. Moreover, Tehsildar J&K Waqf Board has been directed to conduct an inquiry into the matter & submit report within 3 days to the Chairperson for further action, he said.
