Scam under opening of schools under SSA, RMSA in Pulwama

Panel framed to investigation how schools were opened, clubbed to recruit political workers by previous regime

SRINAGAR: The education department in Pulwama has sought information from Zonal Education Officers on how several primary schools were opened in the district by past governments in order to recruit their own political workers.
Sources told The New Now that the decision has been taken by the local administration after it was noticed that several primary schools opened in Pulwama under the flagship programme of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan( RMSA) have been either closed or clubbed.
SSA is the government of India's flagship programme for the achievement of Universalization of Elementary Education (UEE) in a time-bound manner, as mandated by the 86th amendment to the Constitution of India making free and compulsory Education for Children of 6-14 years of age group, a Fundamental Right.
RMSA is a centrally sponsored scheme of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, for the development of secondary education in public schools throughout India.
Referring to all Zonal Education Officers of the district, Chief Education Officer Pulwama Nazir Ahmad has issued an official communiqué, a copy of which lies with TNN.
“With reference to the subject and reference cited, in this connection you are requested to furnish the information regarding Primary Schools opened under the flagship programme of SSA and RMSA and later on closed/clubbed along with feasibility report/recommendation of these schools by the then ZEOs at the time of their opening in the given format”, it reads.
The ZEOs regarding the closed primary schools opened under SSA/RMSA have been asked to provide the name of the primary school, date of establishment, name of ReT/RReT engagement, date of regularization, present enrollment, present status with the date of closure, cause of closure with the status of RReTs and scheme whether SSA, RMSA.
The ZEOs regarding the clubbed primary schools opened under SSA/RMSA have been asked to provide the name of primary school, date of establishment, name of ReT/RReT engagement, date of regularization, present enrollment, present status clubbed with the date, cause of clubbing with the status of RReTs and scheme whether SSA, RMSA. The ZEOs have been asked to take the matter urgently.
