Soft peddling on PHQ’s order, delays promotion of 182 ASIs

Jammu: One hundred and eighty-two cops of the batches of 1983,1984 and 1985 are looking at the respective offices of ADGP Jammu and IGP Kashmir zone for their promotion of Assistant Sub Inspector to Sub Inspector as the one-time relaxation for one year by the PHQ is about to lapse.
Sharing details with The News Now, official sources said that Police Headquarters on the direction of Director General of Police, DGP JK UT Dilbag Singh wrote a letter to the ADGP Jammu zone and IGP Kashmir zone for their promotion on the grounds of a large number of vacant posts and paucity of Sub Inspectors in JKP. To fill the same the Police Headquarters gave one-time relaxation to them.
Subsequentially on 01.01.2022, the office of the Jammu zone citing the reference of the communique from PHQ vide No Pers/List-E/2022-28 sought service records and related documents of the cops through wireless message from Director SKPA,all district heads of JK UT,SSP Security ( both in Jammu and in Kashmir), SSP GRP, SSP Traffic, SSP CID Cell New Delhi, Principal STC Sheer,PTS Kathua,PTTI Vijaypur,STC Talwara, STC Talwara and Tourist Police. The Vigilance clearance of the cops was also sought.
As per the communique, “The PHQ J&K has desired to furnish the Character Rolls of eligible ASIs promoted up to 13.12.17 along with their APRs from the period 2017 to 2021 including their non-involvement certificate and genuineness/validity of category status of reserved category candidates duly authenticated from the concerned issuing authorities if any for preparation of the promotion list E 2022. As such kindly provide the Character Rolls of all those eligible ASIs of Executive Police of your respective districts/wings having their lien and seniority with Jammu zone who have been promoted/appointed up to 31/12/2017”
They said that though the PHQ sought the details on a priority basis, it is being delayed for the reason best known to the concerned wings and establishments.
ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, however, did not respond to the phone calls for comments
