More Sainik Schools

While the stage has been set to open new Sainik Schools across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir under Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence on affiliation basis through partnership of states, NGOs and private partners.However, following directives, the Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department has written to various players including the private schools and the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to be a part of the initiative.Joint Secretary Ministry of Defence, GoI, Satish Singh has dashed a letter to the School Education Department (SED) J&K for wider publicity.Sainik schools have not only brought good quality value based education within reach of the aspiring parents and children but also created glorious history of students from humble background reaching highest echelons in the military leadership, administrative services, judicial services and other walks of life including science, technology and entrepreneurs.Seeking applications from private schools, NGOs, government schools etc. for opening of Sainik Schools in Jammu and Kashmir, the Education Secretary BK Singh has directed the Chief Education Officers of all the districts to issue circulars to make people aware of their participation in this regard. The applicants can apply through e-mail to the District Magistrates of their respective districts at sainikschool.ncog.gov.in.Presently, there is only one Sainik School in Jammu and Kashmir located at Nagrota.Many interested candidates remain deprived of admission in the existing Sainik School because of limited number of seats and to meet this crisis, the government has a wider plan to come up with 100 more Sainik Schools across the country so that more children can get an opportunity to study in these institutions.Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had recently announced that 100 new Sainik schools will be set up in the country to provide an opportunity for girls to join the armed forces and contribute to national security.The setting up of 100 new Sainik schools will provide an opportunity to girls to join the Armed Forces and contribute to national security.The GoI has sought cooperation and support in arranging maximum publicity and sensitising all schools educational bodies in state governments, NGOs and private sector which falls under the domain of J&K SED.The scheme aims at providing Sainik school pattern of education to a larger cross-section of aspiring students all over the nation.
