Ahead of Shah’s visit, security grid strengthened across J&K

Jammu: In the backdrop of recent civilian killings as well as visit of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah this week, the security forces strengthened security grid across Jammu and Kashmir to thwart untoward incident.
Shah will visit J&K from October 23 to October 25. He will hold high-level meetings on the security situation of Kashmir.
A top police officer informed that security has been increased in Jammu and Kashmir and all the security agencies are maintaining high-level synergy. The heavy deployment of security forces was seen in Jammu and Srinagar and other district headquarters since Tuesday.
As per reports, the security forces have even deployed drones and CCTV cameras to take access to every activity on roads.
In Jammu, the ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh and Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Raghav Langer paid a visit at Bhagwati Nagar where Home Minister is reported to have addressed people. They also took first hand information regarding security deployment and other bandobasts.
In Srinagar, the TRC crossing, Lal Chowk, Jehangir Chowk, M A Road, Bemina, Parimpora, Bypass, the joint team of police and CRPF were seen checking the vehicles and identity cards of the travelers. Also, CCTV surveillance has also been updated. Moreover, large numbers of police and paramilitary forces were seen deployed on roads. Also, CRPF personnel and cops conducted random frisking and identification checks at several places.
Meanwhile, the alert Police thwarted terror attempt to cause disturbance through handlers to carry out grenade blast in Kishtwar district.
Sharing details, police said that a joint naka was established by a team of Kishtwar Police, Army 26 RR, and CRPF 52 battalion personnel at Drabshalla Thathri at 1730 hours. During the search of vehicles and passengers, the naka party noticed a suspicious movement of one person who was trying to evade checking. However, alert Jawans of naka party immediately overpowered him and on frisking one hand grenade was recovered from his possession.
The arrested person has been identified as Sohail Ahmed Bhat son of Noor Mohd Bhat of Bathri Gandoh, Doda.
In this regard case, FIR No.235/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar.
