139 FIRs lodged, 153 arrested for violating lockdown norms

Jammu: At least one hundred and thirty nine FIRs have been lodged, one hundred and fifty three persons were arrested and several business establishments were seized in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for violation of the COVID 19 guidelines, within 24 hours by Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Jammu Police has taken stringent measures for the implementation of COVID 19 guidelines. In a drive against the violators of the law, a massive action was being taken by Jammu Police in which several different FIRs against the violators of District Magistrate order were lodged . In total 36 FIRs were lodged within 24 hours by Jammu Police. Also, 35 persons were arrested and 30 shops were seized in violation of the COVID 19 guidelines.
This includes 6 FIR’s in Police station Gangyal, Janipur and Satwari each, 5 in Gandhi Nagar, 4 in Channi Himmat, 3 in Pacca Danga, 2 each in Nagrota and Bagh e Bahu and one in Akhnoor Police station.
Meanwhile the special drive against the violators of Covid-19 guidelines also remained continue throughout all the districts of Kashmir Valley. It is reported that as many as 118 persons were arrested, 103 FIRs were lodged and also fine to the tune of rupees 90,610 was realized from 730 people for violating the guidelines throughout Kashmir valley. Besides, 04 vehicles were also seized for violating restrictions.
Earlier, Kashmir Police also held meetings with the Imams, religious leaders and Auqaf Committees. During meetings it was emphasized upon the participants to reduce the gathering upto maximum possible in the Masajid. The imams were also impressed upon to revisit the SOPs being followed in the Masjid Sharief and ensure that preachers should wear face masks and maintain social distancing strictly and other hygiene related steps to contain Covid -19.
