JAMMU: Following the completion of remodeling work at the Jammu railway yard, passengers have welcomed the wave of relief as the Railways have resumed several key train services.
The yard remodeling project, which began on November 16, 2024, had led to the temporary cancellation or route alterations of many trains operating from Jammu. With the project now concluded, operations for these trains have officially resumed as of May 1, 2025.
While some major train services had already been restored in March, many others remained suspended until now.
The resumption includes significant trains such as the 12469/12470 Jammu-Kanpur Express, 12491/12492 Jammu-Barauni Weekly Express, 14605/14606 Jammu-Yoganagari Rishikesh Weekly Express, and the 12265/12266 Jammu-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Duronto Express.
Their return is expected to significantly ease travel for both tourists and local passengers commuting between Jammu and various parts of North India.
Additionally, trains that were temporarily operated from Amritsar during the remodeling phase will once again depart from their original base station in Jammu.
These include the 18101/18102 Jammu-Tatanagar Express and the 18309/18310 Jammu-Sambalpur Express. This shift back to Jammu as the originating station not only enhances convenience for passengers but also helps restore normalcy in railway services in the region.
Railway authorities have expressed confidence that the restoration of these services will improve the overall travel experience, support regional connectivity, and stimulate tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Moreover, the full reinstatement of operations is expected to have a positive impact on railway revenue by boosting passenger traffic. The Railways’ commitment to timely completion of the remodeling work and the subsequent revival of services is seen as a strategic move toward enhancing infrastructure and passenger satisfaction.
