Jammu: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha highlighted Jammu and Kashmir’s remarkable development journey under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the Viksit Bharat Samvad ‘EDGE 2025’ at Kanpur today.
In his keynote address, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized the need for speedy reforms and collaborative efforts to make every sector of the economy globally competitive.
He urged civil society members, youth, and industry stakeholders to contribute towards achieving two major goals — making India a $5 trillion economy by 2026 and ensuring a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
“Given the global economic upheaval, trade uncertainties, and geopolitical situations, we need to focus on transforming India into a global hub for design and manufacturing,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
He stressed the importance of leveraging India’s demographic dividend through skilling, reskilling, and upskilling initiatives to empower youth to harness technological advancements.
Highlighting India’s youthful population as a key advantage, LG Sinha noted that the combination of Innovation, Industries, and Technology (IIT) would play a vital role in achieving the $5 trillion economy target. He also called for strengthening domestic supply chains and producing critical goods to reduce reliance on external markets.
The Lieutenant Governor further urged business leaders to foster rural enterprises linked to global markets, emphasizing the importance of a strong partnership between Panchayats and Industries to accelerate inclusive development.
“Our villages need to match modern cities in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic opportunities. This can be achieved through effective Panchayat-Industry collaboration,” he added.
LG Sinha praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership for driving transformational changes across sectors in the country, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir.
Referring to Kanpur’s industrial revival, the Lieutenant Governor lauded the city’s resurgence as a manufacturing hub for textiles, leather, and defence industries.
He commended the joint efforts of the Rotary Club of Kanpur Gaurav, Confederation of Indian Industries, and Prout Solicitors LLP for providing a platform to drive strategic collaborations for India’s holistic development.
