Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday ordered a major reshuffle in the Police Department, transferring and posting 100 police officers, including IPS and JKPS officers, with immediate effect.
According to Government Order No. 499-Home of 2026, dated October 9, issued by the Home Department, the reshuffle involves several key positions in the Police Housing Corporation, Home Guards, Civil Defence, SDRF, SKPA Udhampur, CID, Armed Police, Traffic, Railways, district police units and other wings.
Danesh Rana, IPS, has been appointed Managing Director of the J&K Police Housing Corporation, relieving J.M. Gillani, IPS, of the additional charge. Garib Dass, IPS, has been posted as Director of Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF, while Abdul Jabbar, IPS, has been appointed Inspector General of Police, Armed Police, Jammu.
Dr Mohd Haseeb Mughal, IPS, has been posted as Director of SKPA Udhampur, while Shahid Mehraj Rather, IPS, has been appointed IGP Technical Services, J&K. Rayees Mohammad Bhat, IPS, has been posted as DIG CID Headquarters, J&K.
The order also brings changes in several district police formations, including Srinagar, Jammu, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Bandipora, Sopore, Poonch, Ramban, Baramulla, Shopian, Kishtwar and other areas.
Swarn Singh Kotwal has been posted as DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, while Shiv Kumar Sharma has been posted as DIG Railways. Zahid Naseem Manhas has been posted as DIG Armed Police, Jammu.
Aijaz Ahmad Bhat has been transferred from the post of SSP Traffic City Srinagar and posted as Commandant, 23 JKAP IR, while Bisma Qazi has been posted as SSP Traffic City Srinagar. Sudhanshu Dhama has been posted as SSP Kupwara, while Harshal Rajesh Mahajan has been posted as Additional SP Ganderbal.
Neha Jain has been posted as SSP Sopore, Anna Sinha as SSP Ramban, and Vaibhav Meena as SSP Poonch. K.M. Priyanka has been posted as SSP Traffic National Highway, while Anand Kumar Mishra has been appointed SSP ANTF, J&K.
Imtiyaz Hussain Mir has been posted as Director, CTC Lethpora, while Shailender Singh has been appointed Director, Civil Defence and SDRF, Kashmir.
Arun Gupta has been posted as SSP SS CID Headquarters, Tahir Saleem Khan as SSP Bandipora, Sajad Khaliq Bhat as SSP Handwara, and Wasim Qadri as SSP Security Kashmir.
Musadiq Majid Basu has been posted as SP East Srinagar, while Iftkhar Talib has been posted as SP SIA Headquarters. Master Popsy has been posted as SSP Rural Traffic Jammu, while Aijaz Ahmed Zargar has been posted as SSP A CID Headquarters.
The order also provides for changes in Armed Police battalions, Police Headquarters, Security, Crime, SIA, CID and other specialised wings.
