Jammu: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured continued support and cooperation in addressing issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir during a meeting with Leader of Opposition in the J&K Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma in New Delhi.
During the meeting, Sharma apprised Shah of a range of issues concerning the Union Territory, including the prevailing security situation, law and order, development initiatives, public concerns and matters related to the ongoing session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Sharma specifically raised the issue of enhancement of salaries of Special Police Officers (SPOs), informing the Home Minister that the matter is at the final stage. He requested that the process be expedited to facilitate an early conclusion.
The security situation and law-and-order concerns in J&K also figured in the discussions, with Sharma highlighting issues requiring continued attention and coordination between the Union Government and the Union Territory.
He also apprised Shah of development-related matters and concerns being raised by people across Jammu and Kashmir, seeking continued support from the Centre in addressing issues linked to public welfare and development.
According to the statement issued after the meeting, Shah reiterated the Union Government’s commitment to peace, development and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir and assured continued support and cooperation in addressing matters concerning the people of the Union Territory.
Sharma thanked the Home Minister for his guidance and continued support on issues concerning the security, development and welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
