Anantnag, September 03: The Jammu Tawi-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express will soon have an experimental stoppage at Anantnag railway station following approval from the Ministry of Railways, officials said.
The Railway Board has approved the introduction of the halt and directed the concerned authorities to implement it from an early convenient date, subject to the completion of the required security clearance.
Officials have also been asked to monitor ticket bookings and passenger response at Anantnag to assess the performance of the new stoppage.
The experimental halt is expected to provide improved rail connectivity to Anantnag and neighbouring areas. It is likely to benefit students, tourists, traders and other passengers travelling between Jammu and Kashmir.
The stoppage will initially be introduced on a trial basis. Its continuation will be reviewed later based on passenger demand and ticket sales.
Railway sources said the service is likely to begin stopping at Anantnag by the end of September. The exact date of commencement and the arrival and departure timings at the station are yet to be announced.
