Srinagar, August 22: Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari has criticised the government over the increase in electricity bills, saying the hike was not surprising and that the government appeared to be causing hardship to the people.
Bukhari said his party would oppose every move that violates people’s rights and would take to the streets if necessary.
“Government is meant to trouble people; we will resist every move that violates their rights and take to the streets against such draconian measures,” he said.
Bukhari also expressed grief over the death of a minor girl in Kishtwar after she was allegedly found pregnant. He called for strict punishment for those responsible.
He appealed to the police and administration to complete the investigation at the earliest and ensure that the case is taken up on a fast-track basis so that the accused are punished without delay.
