Srinagar, August 21: Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Sogami said tourism should not be linked with the overall situation and welcomed the lowering of travel advisories for Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the arrival of tourists, particularly from the United States, would boost confidence, promote tourism and help the sector grow as an important part of the local economy.
Referring to the recent rape case in Kishtwar, Sogami termed the incident deeply unfortunate and said such incidents should not happen. He stressed the need for greater awareness in society and urged people to speak out against such acts.
He also appealed to parents to take greater care of their sons and daughters and ensure their safety and protection.
Asked about the resignation of MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi , Sogami said, “This question should be asked to him.”
