Jammu, August 08: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to see another spell of wet weather in the coming days, with the Meteorological Department forecasting rainfall and thunderstorms at several places across the Union Territory.

The MeT has predicted light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many locations on August 8, while a few areas may experience short spells of intense showers.

A more active weather pattern is expected from August 9 to 11, when most places may receive light to moderate rain and thunderstorms. Some districts of Jammu division are likely to record heavy to very heavy rainfall, while isolated areas of Kashmir division could also witness brief periods of intense showers.

According to the weather department’s forecast, light rain and thundershowers may continue at many places from August 12 to 17. A few locations could experience brief spells of intense rainfall during this period.

In its advisory, the MeT has cautioned that heavy to torrential rainfall between August 9 and 11 may result in flash floods, landslides and waterlogging, particularly in vulnerable and low-lying areas.

Residents have been urged to stay away from nallahs, landslide-prone zones and other vulnerable locations during heavy rainfall. Authorities have also been directed to remain alert and take necessary precautionary measures.
