Ramban, Aug 7: Six people were injured after two vehicles collided head-on near Tunnel No. 5 (T-5) in the Ramsoo area of Ramban district along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) on Friday.
According to officials, the accident involved an Ertiga bearing registration number JK04J-7978 and a Tavera (JK02DH-1621) travelling from the opposite direction. The collision occurred while traffic was moving along the busy highway.
Soon after the accident, rescue teams comprising Jammu and Kashmir Police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and volunteers of the Himalayan Quick Response Team (QRT), Ramsoo, rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to safety.
After receiving first aid at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Ramsoo, all six injured were referred to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal for specialised treatment. Doctors said the victims sustained blunt trauma injuries and are presently in stable condition.
Police identified the injured as Tanvi Sahu (24), daughter of Vinod Sahu, Pooja Sahu (45), wife of Vinod Sahu, and Vinod Sahu (52), son of Ramadhar Sah, all residents of Madhya Pradesh. The other injured include Salahuddin (39), son of Akhtar Hussain, a resident of Bihar, and Mehtabeen (25), daughter of Fareed, and Bablu (42), son of Bajeer, both residents of Uttar Pradesh.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the collision. The accident also affected the smooth movement of traffic on the national highway.
