RAMBAN,July 13: At least 18 Amarnath pilgrims sustained minor injuries after a multi-vehicle collision involving two JKRTC buses, a car and a private bus in the Pahalgam-bound convoy at Langar Point in Chanderkote area of Ramban district on Monday morning.
Officials said all the injured pilgrims were shifted to the District Hospital, Ramban, where they received treatment. Authorities confirmed that all 18 pilgrims are in stable condition and suffered only minor injuries.
The accident occurred when one JKRTC bus collided with another bus in the convoy, triggering a chain collision. The impact pushed the second bus into a Nexa XL6 car, which was then forced into a private bus, involving a total of four vehicles.
Ten of the injured have been identified as Harsh Rajput (23), Vishal Gupta (18) and Pankaj Suvankar (23) from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh; Suhaas Jeevan Mowade (29) from Yavatmal, Maharashtra; Bharat Bhushan (45), Vinod Kumar (51), Kiran (48), Pawan Kumar (67) and Ganga Sinha (41) from Rajasthan; and Seema Rani (50) from Punjab. The identities of the remaining eight injured pilgrims are yet to be confirmed.
The accident briefly disrupted traffic on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway before normal movement was restored.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
