Kishtwar, July 4: Police have arrested a man in connection with a child protection case involving a 12-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, officials said .
According to police, the case came to light after a man submitted a written complaint alleging that his 12-year-old granddaughter had been subjected to a serious offence.
Senior Superintendent of Police Naresh Singh said an FIR was registered under the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was subsequently formed to investigate the case and trace the accused.
The SIT arrested the accused, identified by police as Imran Hossain, a resident of Bhugrana Badhat.
Police said the investigation is continuing, and further legal proceedings will be carried out in accordance with the law.
