Kishtwar, May 13: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday arrested two persons, including a government school teacher, for allegedly helping foreign terrorists by providing shelter and logistical support in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district.
According to police officials, the accused are believed to be linked with the Saifullah group and were involved in arranging hideouts for terrorists in Singhpora, Chatroo.
Police identified one of the arrested persons as Mashkoor Ahmed, son of Mohammad Ramzan, a resident of Beighpora Singhpora and an employee of the School Education Department. Officials said he was allegedly involved in facilitating shelter and support for foreign terrorists operating in the area.
Earlier, another accused identified as Maneer Ahmed of Bandeyan Naidgam was also taken into custody in connection with the same case.
Police said a case under FIR No. 03/2026 has been registered at Police Station Chatroo under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and Arms Act.
SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh said the arrests were made after detailed investigation and focused operations carried out by police teams. He added that further investigation is underway to identify and trace other members linked to the network.
Jammu and Kashmir Police reiterated its commitment to strict action against terrorism and those supporting such activities, stating that operations will continue to ensure peace and security in the region.
