Jammu: What began as a routine trip for school admissions on April 23 ended in a cross-state criminal investigation. The 16-year-old victim remains in illegal custody after being lured away from her Jammu home.
In a harrowing phone call on April 24, the minor managed to contact her father, revealing she was being held and assaulted in Rohtak. Despite the family’s immediate travel to Haryana, they were reportedly driven away by the suspects under the threat of death.
Authorities are hunting for five individuals linked to the crime. The group includesthree residents of Rohtak, Haryana (Parvesh, Shubam, and Rajesh) and two local accomplices from Bagh-E-Bahu, Jammu (Dinesh and Mohini).
The Police Station Bus Stand has registered a high-profile case involving the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl. The First Information Report (FIR No. 30/2026) was filed following a written complaint by the victim’s father, a resident of Kabir Basti, BC Road.
According to the complaint, the minor girl left her home on the morning of April 23, 2026, under the pretext of seeking school admission. When she failed to return by evening, her family launched an extensive search.
The situation took a harrowing turn the following day when the father received a phone call from his daughter. She reportedly informed him that she was being held against her will in Rohtak, Haryana, and was being subjected to physical and sexual assault by a group of individuals.
The complainant stated that when the family traveled to Haryana to rescue the girl, they were met with death threats and were denied access to her. After allegedly receiving no assistance from local authorities in Haryana, the family returned to Jammu to seek justice.
Bus Stand Police Jammu have lodged a case vide FIR No. 137 u/sSection 137 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) (Relating to kidnapping) and Section 8 of the POCSO Act (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences).
